Scientists scan brains to unlock mystery of heart trouble after head injury

NCT ID NCT06958406

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at how a traumatic brain injury (TBI) can lead to heart problems, a condition called cerebrocardiac syndrome. Researchers will use MRI scans to examine the brains of 90 people with mild or moderate TBI and check their heart health with ECGs, echocardiograms, and blood tests. The goal is to find which brain changes are linked to heart issues, which could lead to new ways to prevent or treat these complications.
