New procedure aims to stop recurring brain bleeds

NCT ID NCT04923984

Summary

This study is testing a minimally invasive procedure called EMMA to treat chronic subdural hematomas, which are slow brain bleeds. The procedure blocks a small artery to prevent the bleed from coming back, either on its own or after surgery. Researchers will follow 1,000 patients in Canada for a year to see if this approach is safe and reduces the chance of the bleed recurring.
