Brain's hidden backup: right hemisphere steps in for language after Left-Sided damage
NCT ID NCT07537504
First seen Apr 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at people with brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in the left side of the brain, which normally controls language. Surprisingly, many of these people have normal language skills, suggesting the right brain has taken over. Researchers will use MRI scans to understand how the right brain reorganizes language networks. The goal is to learn more about brain flexibility and help protect language during brain surgery.
