Could a simple injection replace surgery for crossed eyes in kids?

NCT ID NCT07470164

First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 03, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests if botulinum toxin injections work as well as traditional surgery for treating childhood esotropia (crossed eyes) with a moderate eye turn. About 244 children will be randomly assigned to receive either an injection or surgery. The goal is to see if the injection, which is less invasive and cheaper, can successfully align the eyes without needing additional procedures.
