NCT ID NCT06899438
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study compared botulinum toxin (BoNT-A) injections to prilocaine for relieving pain in myofascial pain syndrome (MPS), a condition causing muscle knots and pain. Thirty-eight adults with MPS for over 3 months were randomly assigned to receive either BoNT-A or prilocaine injections into their trigger points. Pain levels were measured before treatment, at 2 weeks, and at 6 weeks using standard pain scales. The goal was to see if BoNT-A offers better pain relief than the standard local anesthetic.
