Scientists collect bone marrow to grow healing cells for future patients
NCT ID NCT01071577
Summary
This study collected bone marrow from healthy volunteers and some patients to produce specialized cells called bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs). These cells were grown in a lab to create medical products for treating conditions like graft-versus-host disease, heart disease, and vascular problems. The study focused on collecting and processing the cells, not on treating participants with them.
