Surgeon-Led bone health referrals may cut fracture risk after joint surgery

NCT ID NCT05845021

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a surgeon-initiated referral to a bone health specialist can reduce implant problems and fractures in people with osteoporosis who have hip or knee replacement surgery. About 2,000 participants aged 50 and older with confirmed osteoporosis will be followed for two years. The goal is to see if this referral pathway works better than standard care for preventing complications.
