Blood test could flag deadly seizure risk
NCT ID NCT03419000
Summary
This study aimed to find a blood test that could identify which patients with hard-to-treat epilepsy are at risk of dangerous breathing problems during a seizure. Researchers compared blood samples from 75 adult patients who experienced low oxygen levels during seizures to those who did not. The goal was to see if tiny molecules in the blood, called microRNAs, could serve as a warning sign for this serious complication.
