First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether bivalirudin, a blood thinner, works better and causes fewer side effects than the standard drug heparin for patients on ECMO (a machine that helps the heart and lungs). About 154 adults on ECMO will be randomly assigned to receive either drug. The goal is to see which one better prevents dangerous blood clots and serious bleeding.
