First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether using a brain activity monitor (BIS) to guide anesthesia during surgery can reduce nausea and vomiting in children aged 3 to 8. Fifty-eight children having their tonsils removed took part. Half received standard anesthesia care, while the other half had anesthesia adjusted based on the BIS monitor. The main goal was to see if the BIS-guided group had less nausea and vomiting in the first 24 hours after surgery.
