First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether using a brain activity monitor (BIS) during anesthesia can reduce nausea and vomiting after surgery in children aged 3 to 8. Fifty-eight children having their tonsils removed were randomly assigned to either BIS-guided anesthesia or standard care. The main goal was to see if the BIS group had less nausea and vomiting in the first 24 hours after surgery.
