Toothache test: new biomarkers could save your tooth!

NCT ID NCT07466095

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at two substances in the blood of a tooth's pulp (IL-8 and presepsin) to see if they can tell the difference between a toothache that can heal (reversible pulpitis) and one that needs a root canal (irreversible pulpitis). Researchers will collect pulp blood samples from 50 patients aged 14-50 and measure these biomarkers. The goal is to improve diagnosis and avoid unnecessary treatments.
