Smart scale for dialysis: could it prevent heart attacks?
NCT ID NCT06573567
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether using a special scale (bioimpedance) to guide fluid removal during dialysis could reduce complications like heart attacks, strokes, and low blood pressure. Fifty people on long-term hemodialysis took part. One group had their dry weight adjusted monthly based on the scale's readings, while the other group did not. The goal was to see if this approach leads to fewer serious events and better-tolerated sessions.
