New bile duct access method tested against standard technique

NCT ID NCT06010576

Summary

This study compares two advanced medical techniques for accessing the bile duct when the standard method fails during a common endoscopic procedure (ERCP). Researchers will randomly assign 188 adult patients who have difficult bile duct access to receive either an ultrasound-guided 'rendezvous' technique or an 'early precut' technique. The goal is to see which method is more successful and safer for completing the necessary bile duct treatment.
