This study tested whether giving bicarbonates (a type of fluid) is better than standard saline for preventing kidney damage caused by contrast dye used in medical scans. The trial involved 300 adults in intensive care who needed contrast dye. Researchers compared how many patients in each group developed acute kidney injury.
