Can computers train surgeons to communicate better with patients?

NCT ID NCT07475104

Summary

This study tests two ways to train surgeons to use a better communication method called 'Better Conversations' during surgical consultations. The goal is to help patients, especially older adults, better understand surgery goals, risks, and what to expect, leading to more informed decisions. Researchers will compare training delivered by a human specialist to training supported by computer analysis of consultation transcripts to see if the automated method works as well.
