First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study looked for the best combination of blood tests to quickly and accurately diagnose late-onset sepsis in newborns in the NICU. Sepsis is hard to diagnose in babies, leading to too many antibiotics. Researchers tested 233 infants to find a biomarker mix that could rule out infection early, aiming to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and its side effects.
