New scan spots hidden parathyroid tumors missed by standard tests
NCT ID NCT05891769
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests a special PET scan (18F fluorocholine) to find parathyroid adenomas—small, usually non-cancerous tumors that cause high calcium levels—in people whose standard scans were unclear or negative. About 100 adults with suspected adenoma will get the new scan to see if it detects more tumors. The goal is to improve diagnosis and guide better treatment.
