New safety check aims to spot breathing risks before obese patients go under anesthesia
NCT ID NCT07493356
Summary
This study aims to find better ways to predict which obese patients might have difficulty having a breathing tube placed during surgery. Researchers will test if combining a standard questionnaire (STOP-BANG) with a few simple physical exams improves prediction accuracy. About 233 obese adults scheduled for elective surgery will have these pre-surgery checks, and their actual airway difficulty during the procedure will be recorded and compared.
