Could a common heart pill protect against Parkinson's?

NCT ID NCT03775096

First seen Mar 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether carvedilol, a drug used for heart failure, can reverse early heart abnormalities seen in people with REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) who are at high risk for Parkinson's disease. Researchers will use special heart scans to measure changes and see if they relate to Parkinson's symptoms. The goal is to learn if blocking certain nerve signals might slow the disease process.
