Facial paralysis study probes hidden emotional toll

NCT ID NCT07511140

First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This observational study looks at 85 adults with Bell's palsy to see if worse facial muscle function is linked to more anxiety, depression, and lower self-esteem. Researchers will measure facial movement and muscle activity, then compare those results with mental health questionnaires. The goal is to understand the emotional impact of facial paralysis, not to test a treatment.
