Smartwatch trial aims to predict and prevent AF complications

NCT ID NCT07512037

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study will test if using a smartwatch to continuously monitor atrial fibrillation (AF) can help doctors decide when to start or change treatment. About 3,194 people with paroxysmal AF will wear a smartwatch that tracks their AF burden. Those with a high burden will receive early treatment, and researchers will see if this reduces serious events like stroke or heart failure over 12 months.
