Smartwatch study aims to predict and prevent AF complications

NCT ID NCT07512037

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether using a smartwatch to continuously track atrial fibrillation (AF) patterns can help doctors decide the best time to start or change treatment. About 3,194 adults with paroxysmal AF will wear a smartwatch to measure their AF burden. If the burden is high, doctors may adjust medications or consider a procedure to control the heart rhythm. The goal is to see if this approach reduces serious events like stroke, heart failure, or hospital stays.
