First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) supplements for 12 weeks can improve muscle thickness, strength, and nutrition in people with advanced liver cirrhosis who have fluid in the belly (ascites) and low albumin levels. About 30 participants will take BCAA twice daily and undergo ultrasound, strength tests, and blood work. The goal is to see if this supplement helps manage the disease and improve quality of life.
