Summary
This study looked at whether the Big Brothers Big Sisters community-based mentoring program can help prevent crime and juvenile delinquency in youth ages 10 to 16. Over 1,300 participants were randomly assigned to either receive mentoring or not, and their outcomes were tracked for 4 years using surveys and official arrest records. The goal was to see if having a mentor reduces arrests, delinquency, and substance use.
