This study tested whether a specific type of ear acupuncture, originally developed for rapid pain relief in military settings, could help people with long-term low back pain caused by spine wear and tear. Researchers in Vietnam compared the real acupuncture technique against a fake version in 60 patients, while all participants also received standard electroacupuncture and pain medication. The goal was to see if this combination could better reduce pain and improve daily life for a condition affecting hundreds of millions worldwide.
