Summary

This study tested whether Baduanjin, a gentle mind-body exercise, can reduce pain, improve balance, and lessen fear of movement in people with knee osteoarthritis. Sixty adults aged 40 to 70 with moderate knee OA took part. They were split into three groups: one did standard exercises, one added Baduanjin to standard exercises, and one did Baduanjin via video call. The goal was to see if Baduanjin helps people move better and feel less pain.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Baduanjin exercise (a traditional Chinese mind-body exercise)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free exercise option to help people with knee osteoarthritis move with less pain and fear.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study (60 people) without a placebo control. Results may not apply to everyone, and benefits might be modest or not last long-term.
