New PET scan may spot hidden artery inflammation faster

NCT ID NCT06335888

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether a new type of PET scan called AzaFol-PET/CT can better diagnose giant cell arteritis (GCA), a condition that causes inflamed blood vessels. About 70 adults aged 50 and older with suspected GCA will receive one AzaFol-PET/CT scan. The results will be compared with standard FDG-PET/CT and the final clinical diagnosis to see which method is more accurate.
