Promising combo offers new hope for elderly leukemia patients

NCT ID NCT03466294

First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tested a combination of two drugs, azacitidine and venetoclax, as an initial treatment for adults aged 60 and older with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who had not received prior therapy. Participants received the drugs together as induction therapy, and those who responded continued on venetoclax alone as maintenance. The goal was to see how long remission lasted and how many patients achieved a deep response with no detectable leukemia cells.
