New hope for rare cancer: drug shrinks tumors in early trial
NCT ID NCT03839498
First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests a daily pill called axitinib in adults with rare adrenal gland tumors (pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma) that have spread or cannot be removed. The main goal is to see how many patients' tumors shrink or disappear. Researchers also track how long the disease stays under control. The study is small (6 participants) and in phase 2, so results are early but promising for a hard-to-treat cancer.
