First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested whether a material called soda lime can remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air when someone breathes into a snow air pocket, like during an avalanche burial. 22 healthy adults took part to see if this could delay dangerous CO2 buildup and low oxygen levels. The goal is to find a way to extend survival time for avalanche victims.
