New drug aims to reverse wasting in cancer patients

Summary
This early-stage trial tests a drug called AV-380 in 30 adults with advanced cancer who are losing weight and muscle (cachexia) and have high levels of a protein called GDF-15. The drug is given alongside standard chemotherapy to see if it is safe and how the body processes it. The goal is to find a dose that might help stop or reverse this severe weight loss.
