Press record: study tests if audio logs help cancer patients recall Doctor's advice
NCT ID NCT04871477
First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at whether audio recording a cancer clinic visit helps patients remember what the doctor said and share it with family who couldn't attend. About 200 adults with advanced cancer will be asked to record part of their visit. Researchers will then survey them to see if they found the recording useful and if it helped them discuss their condition with others.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that simple audio recordings improve how well cancer patients recall and share their doctor's advice.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study focused on patient opinions, not on treating the disease. It may not lead to any change in medical practice.
