Common heart drug could stop deadly skin cancer spread

NCT ID NCT06157099

Summary

This study is testing whether atorvastatin, a medication commonly used to lower cholesterol, can prevent melanoma skin cancer from spreading to other parts of the body after it has been surgically removed. The trial involves 150 adults who have had high-risk melanoma surgically removed but are at risk of the cancer returning. Participants will take either atorvastatin or a placebo pill daily for up to five years to see if the drug reduces cancer recurrence.
