First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested a program where mothers and their children with intellectual disability (ages 6-12) did expressive arts activities together, like drawing and music, to improve their relationship and well-being. 157 mother-child pairs took part, with some doing the art program and others receiving usual care. The goal was to see if art could reduce parenting stress and burnout, and improve the child's mood and behavior.
