New scans could unlock future treatments for devastating childhood kidney disease

Summary
This study aims to develop better MRI scans to measure how a rare, serious genetic kidney disease (ARPKD) changes over time. Researchers will enroll 45 patients with ARPKD and 15 healthy volunteers to undergo special kidney MRI scans and other tests annually for up to 3 years. The goal is to create reliable measurement tools that could be used in future clinical trials to test new treatments for this disease, which currently has no cure.
