First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This small study tested whether a 10-minute aromatherapy massage twice a week for four weeks could reduce arm stiffness and improve emotional well-being in 30 stroke survivors aged 65 and older living in care homes. One group received massage with sweet marjoram essential oil, while the control group got plain oil. Researchers measured arm movement, pain, blood pressure, anxiety, and mood before and after the treatment period.
