Sniff away the sickness: aromatherapy patches tested for Post-Surgery nausea

NCT ID NCT07281885

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether aromatherapy patches can ease nausea and vomiting after total joint replacement surgery. About 159 adults will be split into three groups: one gets a scented patch (lavender-sandalwood or orange-ginger) plus standard care, another gets a placebo patch plus standard care, and the last gets standard care alone. Researchers will track symptoms and patient satisfaction to see if aromatherapy is a helpful, low-cost addition to recovery.
