NCT ID NCT05545891

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study tests whether aripiprazole, a medication already used for other conditions, can reduce the urge to pull hair or pick skin in adults with trichotillomania or skin-picking disorder. About 100 participants will take either aripiprazole or a placebo daily for 6 weeks, with symptom severity checked every two weeks. The goal is to see if the drug eases these repetitive behaviors better than a placebo.
