New study tests gentler surgery for ovarian cysts

NCT ID NCT07065214

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study compares two surgical methods for treating ovarian endometriomas (cysts caused by endometriosis): standard cystectomy (removing the cyst wall) and argon plasma coagulation (using a gas-based tool to destroy the cyst lining). The goal is to see which method better preserves ovarian function, measured by changes in AMH (a hormone linked to egg supply). About 72 women will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures and followed for 12 months.
