First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study tests whether a single infusion of arginine, a natural amino acid, can help people with type 2 diabetes recover faster from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). DKA is a serious complication where high blood sugar and acid buildup occur. The trial will enroll 60 adults in emergency rooms and give either arginine or a placebo alongside standard care. The goal is to see if arginine safely boosts the body's own insulin and speeds up recovery.
