First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single dose of arginine, a natural amino acid, can help people with type 2 diabetes recover faster from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a serious condition where blood sugar is very high and acids build up. The trial will enroll 60 adults in emergency rooms. Participants will receive either arginine or a placebo alongside standard care. The goal is to see if arginine can boost the body's own insulin production and speed up recovery.
