Doctors test tools to Fine-Tune life support for flipped patients

NCT ID NCT01965574

Summary

This study aimed to find the best way to measure if a critically ill patient with severe lung failure (ARDS) needs more IV fluids while they are lying face down. Researchers tested different monitoring methods on 33 sedated patients on breathing machines to see which one most accurately predicted if a fluid infusion would help their heart pump more blood. The goal was to provide better guidance for doctors making urgent treatment decisions in the intensive care unit.
