AR goggles could help surgeons remove all breast cancer in one go

NCT ID NCT07003841

First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether an augmented reality (AR) system can help surgeons remove all breast cancer during breast-conserving surgery. About 94 women with breast cancer will be randomly assigned to have surgery guided by AR or by the usual ultrasound skin marking. The main goal is to see if the AR method leads to fewer cancer cells left at the edge of the removed tissue.
