Smartwatch study aims to catch dangerous heart rhythms sooner
NCT ID NCT05686330
Summary
This study tested whether wearing an Apple Watch could help detect atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) faster in older adults at high risk for stroke. 436 participants aged 65+ were randomly assigned to either wear the watch for daily monitoring or receive standard medical care. The research compared how quickly and often irregular heart rhythms were found between the two groups.
