Can a smartphone app ease dialysis fatigue? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT07259369
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tests whether a smartphone app that guides patients through acupressure can reduce fatigue, itching, and improve sleep in people on hemodialysis. About 70 adults who have been on dialysis for at least three months will be randomly assigned to use the app daily for four weeks or to receive usual care. The goal is to see if this self-guided approach offers a practical way to manage common symptoms.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
app-based acupressure
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, self-guided way for hemodialysis patients to manage fatigue, itching, and poor sleep at home.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 70 participants. The app-based approach may not work for everyone, and results may not apply to all dialysis patients.
