New oxygen technique may prevent dangerous drops during emergency intubation

NCT ID NCT07189338

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving extra oxygen through the nose while placing a breathing tube can prevent severe low oxygen levels in ICU patients with lung failure. About 500 adults who need a breathing tube will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or extra oxygen during the procedure. The goal is to see if this simple addition makes intubation safer.
