Heart bypass patients get new hope: which pill best protects your new artery?
NCT ID NCT04310995
First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study compares three common heart medications (nicorandil, diltiazem, and isosorbide mononitrate) to see which one best prevents spasms in the new artery used during bypass surgery. About 150 adults who recently had coronary artery bypass grafting with a radial artery graft will take one of the three pills for 24 weeks. Researchers will check the graft's health with scans and track heart events over 5 years to find the most effective anti-spasm treatment.
