Heart bypass patients get new hope: three-drug trial aims to keep arm artery grafts open longer
NCT ID NCT04310995
First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study compares three oral medications (nicorandil, diltiazem, and isosorbide mononitrate) to prevent spasms in radial artery grafts used in coronary artery bypass surgery. About 150 adults who recently had this surgery will take one of the drugs for 24 weeks, with follow-up imaging and check-ups to see which drug best keeps grafts open and reduces heart events. The goal is to find the most effective anti-spasm treatment to improve long-term outcomes after bypass surgery.
