First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at how two common schizophrenia medications, risperidone and aripiprazole, affect the energy-producing parts of cells (mitochondria) in 60 patients. The goal was to measure changes in cell energy markers over 12 weeks. The study did not test a new treatment, but aimed to understand why these drugs may cause side effects like movement problems.
